DEFINITIONS

This definitions index is designed to be used alongside our VIP dashboard so you can understand what the different points of data mean and why they are important. Press the buttons below to skip to the relevant page.

PAGE 1: VILLAGE INVESTORS PROGRAMME – OVERVIEW

Countries

The number of countries where we have introduced the VIP since the programme was launched in 2014.

Partners

The number of current and former partners we have trained to deliver the VIP since the programme was launched in 2014. Our partners are all in-country NGOs and community-based organisations who specialise in community and child development.

Total Groups Formed

The total number of savings and loans groups set up through the VIP since the programme was launched in 2014, including those which:

  • are currently being trained and supported
  • have graduated from the programme and can operate independently of any support
  • were set up and trained by our former partners
  • are no longer functioning due to economic, environmental or practical reasons.

Groups Currently in Training

The number of groups that are currently being trained and supported through the VIP.

Group Members

The total number of parents, guardians and community volunteers who have been trained, or are being trained, through the VIP.

Avg. Members per Group

The average number of parents, guardians and community volunteers who are members of a VIP group.

Avg. Children Supported per Group

The average number of children who are supported per VIP group, including those inside and outside the VIP members’ households.

Avg. Orphans Supported per Group

Of the average number of children supported, this is how many have lost one or both of their parents.

Children Supported

The total number of children who are supported by VIP groups, including those inside and outside of members’ households.

Total Group Savings

The total amount saved by all VIP groups since the programme was launched in 2014.

Avg. Group Savings per Cycle

The average amount a VIP group saves in a full cycle of saving and loaning, which is usually annual.

Avg. Share Out per Member

The average amount each VIP member is receiving after a full cycle of saving and loaning.

Avg. Share Out per Member by Year

The average amount that each VIP member receives after a full cycle of saving and loaning by year of the programme.

Cumulative Number of Members and Children Supported

The cumulative number of VIP group members and children supported per year since the programme was launched in 2014.

Groups Formed per Country and Current Partners Map

A map showing the number of VIP groups formed per country since the programme was launched in 2014, and the partners with whom we are currently running the programme.

Total Group Savings

The total amount saved by all VIP groups since the programme was launched in 2014.

Savings Fund

The total amount saved by all VIP groups in their Savings Fund, which is used to give loans to members so they can build their businesses.

Interest Fund

The total amount of interest collected by all VIP groups from loans taken by members used to build their businesses.

Group IGA Fund

The total amount of profit made by all VIP group income generating activities (IGAs), which they are encouraged to set up to boost their loaning capital and group savings.

Welfare Fund

The total amount saved by all VIP groups to provide emergency interest-free loans to any member in times of hardship.

Fines Fund

The total amount saved by all VIP groups from the fines collected when members arrive late to group meetings or break any of the rules of their group.

“Other” Fund

The total amount saved by VIP groups who have chosen to set up an additional fund which they use for anything else they want to contribute to which the other funds don’t cover.

Orphan Fund

The total amount saved by all VIP groups to help children in their community who are in extreme need of support with food, school fees and materials, and other basic necessities.

Avg. Share Out per Member per Savings Cycle

The average amount each VIP member is receiving after the first, second and third cycle of saving and loaning.

Avg. Total Savings per Group per Savings Cycle

The average amount each VIP group is saving in their first, second and third cycles of saving and loaning.

% Groups with Orphan Fund

The percentage of VIP groups that have an Orphan Fund in their latest cycle.

% Groups with Group IGA Fund

The percentage of VIP groups that are operating a group income generating activity (IGA) in their latest cycle.

% Groups with Welfare Fund

The percentage of VIP groups that are operating a Welfare Fund in their latest cycle.

% Members Who Purchased Animals

The percentage of VIP group members who purchased animals after their latest cycle of saving and loaning.

% Members Who Purchased Animals per Savings Cycle

The percentage of VIP group members who have purchased animals after the first, second and third cycle of saving and loaning.

Children Supported by Orphan Fund

The total number of children in extreme need of support who have been supported with basic necessities such as food and school fees by the money saved in the Orphan Fund.
